Heavy Metal

Following the success of the American version of Métal Hurlant (Heavy Metal), which made its first appearance in 1977, bringing translations of several original stories while adding new authors, a few sharp producers (featuring Ivan Reitman among their ranks) decided to make a movie adaptation of some of the episodes published in the magazine. This collection of eight tales by names including Dan O’Bannon, Juan Giménez, Moebius, Richard Corben and Bernie Wrightson is converted into animation in this Canadian production narrated by a glowing green orb brought from space by an astronaut for his daughter, to whom, having removed her father, it proceeds to unfold a string of horror stories in time to the beat of Black Sabbath, Devo, Nazareth or Stevie Nicks.
