Enrique Ventura (Madrid, 1946) an essential name throughout the world of humorous comic strips, author, with remembered screenwriter Miguel Ángel Nieto, of masterpieces like Maremagnum, the mythical Sonrisas or the unforgettable Grouñidos en el desierto, experimenting in the mixture of groundbreaking plastic and narrative discoveries with the most imaginative, ingenious, tender and poetic humour.

Excellent cartoonist and illustrator, award winner at the principal comic competitions, he also demonstrates the versatility of his career on breaking into the fields of animation and film (designs for El caballero del dragón-The Knight of the Dragon), signing as a novelist, or, currently, successfully printing his humour in the daily press while he continues to collaborate with the magazine El jueves.

Sergio Bleda (Albacete, 1974) is considered by a large part of the public and critics as one of the best cartoonists to have made their appearance in the 90s, outstanding not only as a designer of successful fantasy and horror universes, but also as a fascinating illustrator, skilled narrator and fertile creator of vertiginous stories onto which he impresses an extremely beautiful and colourful cinematographic rhythm of great visual force.

We take an in-depth, chronological look at his work with often completely unpublished originals exhibited for the first time in Spain. There will also be a special section dedicated to El baile del vampiro, plus a selection of his film storyboards.

José Luis Macías (Jaén, 1929) is the most famous and influential illustrator of Spanish science-fiction, acclaimed and endorsed for his imaginative covers of collections like Luchadores del espacio in the fifties and sixties, endowed with unlimited fantasy, who later went on to form part of our country’s genre iconography.

In addition to being a recognized artist and admirable cartoonist, he has illustrated a never-ending number of literary classics and children’s books published in over twenty countries. In this exhibition we will also remember his short but intense incursion into the field of classic Spanish comics, with important titles including Zhar el justiciero, Gary Cooper or Ayax el Griego.

This extensive exhibition will show us how science fiction and fantasy have taken shape in the Spanish comic, recalling mythical characters like Diego Valor, Galax the Cosmonaut, Dani Futuro or Súper López, and the most representative series via his most important covers and comic strips.

From the late 19th Century Aucas until the most recent titles, we will relive publications as essential as Chicos, 1984, Luchadores del espacio or Cinco por infinito, revising the portrayal in fantasy of humour, women, literature or eroticism among many others, not forgetting to dedicate a section to our country’s great authors of the genre.
